On the afternoon of September 25, Zhou Kaige, China's first postdoctor major in health industry chain development, gave a lecture about Investment Opportunities and Risks under the Background of "Great Health Industry" at MBA education center of School of Business.

The lecture was hosted by Wang Gang, Director of the MBA Education Center. After Mr. Wang’s brief introduction of the academic background and working background of Dr. Zhou Kaige, Dr. Zhou began his lecture in the warm applause. At the beginning of the lecture, Dr Zhou pointed out a question to the students: “What is health industry?” The students had various answers: medical treatment, medicine, fitness, mentality and so on. Zhou Kaige pointed out that these all belong to health industry. Each person's needs are different, so everyone gets different answers. At the same time, we can see from these answers that the health industry is involved in a very wide range and its development space is also very wide.

First of all, Zhou Kaige analyzed the development opportunities of great health industry by analyzing the current development of great health industry at home and abroad. He pointed out that now China's health industry has some industrial characteristics like rigid demand of the products, weak cycle industry, large enterprises with great risks, but low industry concentration, great influence of national policy and so on. At the same time, he also pointed out that great health industry is the only competitive economy under the background of economic new normal. China is now facing with the problem of aging population. The increase in the proportion of aging population will directly stimulate the sustainable growth of health care industry in China. At the same time, China's per capita GDP has crossed the critical point and the proportion of China's medical and health expenditure to GDP in the past 30 years has increased from 3% to the current 4.7%, but there still exists a gap compared with the global average of 8.7% and 11.2% of developed countries. In addition, with the acceleration of urbanization in China, the improvement of the medical environment and the improvement of willingness to seek medical treatment, as well as the increase of government investment brought by the new medical reform, it will become the catalyst for the release of medical needs. What’s more, the lifestyle and diet structure of Chinese has undergone tremendous changes, leading to changes in the spectrum of Chinese disease, which provides a sufficient space for the growth of the health care industry.

Then, Dr. Zhou Kaige elaborated on the pressure of the development of great health industry. He pointed out that the biggest problem existing in great health industry is the difficulty to achieve product innovation and that health industry mainly relies on the effect and trust. Now great health industry is a pseudo rigid need industry with large imagination and there exists many scattered homogeneous competition industry. When explaining the competition-level problems existed in health industry, Professor Zhou introduced four times of human war: cold weapons era, hot weapons era, nuclear weapons era and information warfare era and took the business model of several directors in the entertainment industry such as Chen Peisi, Zhao Benshan, Feng Xiaogang, Xu Zheng as a metaphor, pointing out that one can gives out the largest energy and gets the highest efficiency with least cost only when he rises to the competitive level in the development of great health industry.

Finally, in Q & A session, when making a conclusion of the lecture, Dr.Zhou also hoped that through such courses, students can have a better understanding of the health industry and those who interested in this industry can seize the opportunity. The students warmly applauded for Prof.Zhou's lectures and encouragement.
